Maldives pres calls for intl enquiry into Israel's rights abuses
President Solih reflected on the imminent humanitarian crisis that presently afflicts in Gaza.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday called for a comprehensive international enquiry into the human rights abuses perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinians.
He made the remarks during a statement marking the anniversary of the day the Maldives embraced Islam.
President Solih reflected on the imminent humanitarian crisis that presently afflicts in Gaza following Israeli military aggression against the residents of the Gaza Strip. In this regard, the president called for a comprehensive international inquiry into the human rights abuses perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinians.
In his statement, President Solih emphasised the sacred responsibility of the entire Islamic Ummah to collectively work towards alleviating the suffering of oppressed Muslims globally.
He stressed that for such an effort to be successful, Muslim communities must strengthen their fraternal ties, bridge divisions, and stand united as a single Ummah.
President Solih further highlighted that enduring faith has been a strong foundation for the Maldivian people to unite and build our nation since embracing Islam.
He underscored the importance of instilling Islamic principles and nationalistic values in younger generations to foster peace and harmony among Maldivians, values that are highly esteemed in Islam.
The Maldives commemorates the day we embraced Islam annually on the 2nd of Rabiʽ al-Akhir as per the Islamic Calendar.
