The import, use and sale of paracetamol for children has been banned in Maldives.
The Maldives Food and Drug Authority (MFDA) has identified quality problems with the drug currently available in the market.
The agency said the drug has been banned from being imported, sold and used in Maldives pending an investigation over defects.

The MFDA also banned a children's flu medicine this week. The drug was banned after preliminary tests showed that a batch of the drug contained the chemical substances diethylene glycol (DEG) and ethylene glycol (EG), the MFDA said.
