Turkey has expressed interest in increasing the number of flights to Maldives.
Turkey's tourism minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy made the remarks when he paid a courtesy call on Maldives' new President Dr Mohamed Muizzu during a meeting held at the Kurumba Maldives resort.
Turkish airlines currently operates daily flights between Male and Istanbul.
During the courtesy call, President Muizzu thanked the minister for participating in the presidential inauguration earlier in the evening.
Ersoy extended greetings, well-wishes and congratulations on winning the presidential election to President Muizzu.
The minister added that by expanding the number of flights to the Maldives, the Turkish government hopes to fortify partnerships in the tourism, education, and travel industries. He further stated that Turkish investors are willing to make reciprocal investments in the Maldives.
The minister additionally extended an invitation to the President to visit Turkey.
The president emphasised his commitment to enhancing bilateral ties with Turkey, noting the similar cultures and beliefs between the two countries.
