President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has arrived in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Thursday to attend the Twenty-Eighth Session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP28).
A high-level delegation of senior officials is accompanying the president on the visit.
For the Maldives, COP28 holds significant importance as it provides an opportunity to discuss the country's ambitions for global sustainable development.
President Muizzu is scheduled to deliver the national address at COP28 on Friday.
COP28 UAE will mark a milestone as the world takes stock of its progress on the Paris Agreement. The first Global Stocktake (GST) will provide a comprehensive assessment of progress since the adoption of the Paris Agreement, facilitating efforts to align climate action and address gaps in progress.
President Muizzu arrived in the United Arab Emirates after concluding an official visit to Türkiye at the invitation of Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
