
Police caution against celebrating Xmas in local islands
It is strictly prohibited to conduct any activities related to the worship of any religion other than Islam in a public place in Maldives.

Police have urged people not to hold any activities in a residential area to celebrate Christmas.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the police reminded that celebrating religious days of other religions is prohibited by the laws and regulations of Maldives.
"Therefore, no activities will be held in any island in Maldives to celebrate Christmas and action will be taken against those who conduct such activities within the legal framework," the statement said.
It is strictly prohibited to conduct any activities related to the worship of any religion other than Islam in a public place in Maldives. However, the country’s resorts celebrate Christmas in a colorful way every year.
