While the first cruise liner of the year arrived on Monday, the regulations issued last September to raise fees for vessels such as foreign yachts, cruise liners and safaris arriving in the country were revised this month.

According to the new rules, passenger liners arriving in Maldives for a period of less than seven days will be exempt from the USD 100 per day fee for docking or operating in Maldivian territory.

In addition, the vessels will not be required to obtain a charter license.

Although docking and driving fees are exempted, passenger liners arriving for less than seven days will still have to pay a fee of USD 850 per day.
