Complaints opened over parking spaces sold in Male

Complaints can be submitted through the online portal on the City Council website or by writing to the Public Services Section of the Council.

The Male City Council on Monday has opened the opportunity to submit complaints regarding the parking spaces allocated for four-wheels on the streets of the capital city Male.

The city council opened parking spaces for rent in February 2022.

The slots are available for a maximum of one year on a monthly fee basis. Each person can apply for a slot in three different areas.

Parking space was provided:

  • For taxis - MVR 650 per month.

  • For private cars - MVR 1,500 per month.

  • For companies - MVR 3,000 per month.

The opportunity to submit complaints regarding parking spaces is open until February 5.

Complaint submission was opened for:

  • People who were not contacted further after receiving the parking slot awarding message

  • Those who were not made agreements with after being notified of the parking slot

  • Other complaints regarding parking slots

Complaints can be submitted through the portal on the City Council website or by writing to the Public Services Section of the Council.

While many had applied for this four-wheel parking spaces provided by the council, there were concerns that most of the slots given were allotted in areas where most people were usually parking their bikes. President Mohamed Muizzu, who was mayor of the city at the time, also agreed that some parking spaces were not given legitimately.
