Few primaries for Dems as 37 secure tickets for Majilis polls
A total of nine candidates have contested for four constituencies.

The Democrats have given tickets to 37 of the party’s members without a primary for the upcoming parliamentary elections, including members already in parliament. Three Democrats sitting in the current parliament did not contest for any tickets.
The Democrats on Monday announced that 46 candidates have filed for 41 constituencies. These include:

The announcement said that in constituencies where only one member had contested, the party ticket will be handed over to the member without a primary. Their primary will be held on Saturday, the 3rd of next month.
According to the party's list of candidates for 41 seats on Democrats’ tickets, 37 candidates are to get tickets without a primary.
For more than one candidate contesting, four constituencies will require primary elections. A total of nine candidates have contested these four constituencies.

According to the list released by the Democrats, eight current members of parliament are among the 37 candidates who won tickets without a primary.
Former STO Managing Director Hussain Amr Mohammed Rashad is also a candidate, contesting the Mahchangolhi North constituency. The current Mp for the constituency in parliament is the Democrats MP Mohammed Rasheed, whose name not on the list this time.
