The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has launched an investigation into the corruption cases of some former government officials.

The ACC said on Thursday evening released a statement which said it was investigating cases filed with the commission alleging that some former government officials have used their influence to obtain illegal benefits through some state owned companies.

The ACC did not provide details on the cases. It did not say which sectors of the previous government are being investigated.

But some media reports in recent days have speculated that the ACC investigation involves several top former government officials including some cabinet ministers.

ACC has also entered the SME Bank on Thursday to investigate a case.
