A man arrested for allegedly driving at high speed and colliding with a police motorcycle in Hulhumale has been released on conditional bail.
Police said the incident occurred at around 11pm on Saturday in Phase One and Phase Two of Hulhumale, when officers attempted to stop a vehicle that was reportedly being driven at high speed.
The driver, identified as Aik Haisham Hassan, 18, of H. Filimaage, was taken into custody but was later released on conditions following a remand hearing in court on Sunday night.
A female passenger in the vehicle was also arrested on Saturday but has since been released.
According to police, the vehicle failed to stop when instructed and struck a police motorcycle, injuring one officer. The officer was treated at Hulhumale Hospital and discharged.
Police said the matter remains under investigation.
