The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has decided to hold the upcoming biennial Anti-Corruption Conference to focus on the factors that lead to corruption in the tourism sector.

Discussions with relevant sectors started on Sunday to hold the conference. The ACC aims to make this an international conference with the participation of relevant foreign agencies.

The ACC has already begun preparations for the conference too. The commission held discussions with the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO) on Sunday.

Discussions will be held with additional relevant agencies in the future, and the ACC is working to hold the conference later this year.

The ACC last held an anti-corruption conference in 2022. The conference focused on identifying corruption threats in government-owned companies and strengthening the governance system.
