Over 700 student applications for school switch to capital
While hundreds of children transfer from atoll and island schools to Male schools every year, all the public schools in the country follow the same curriculum.

The Ministry of Education has received over 700 applications to switch schools from the atolls to schools in the capital Male.
The Ministry of Education has announced the details of the application forms submitted for admission and transfer of children from one school to another in the new academic year.
The Education Ministry had earlier announced that application forms can be submitted till the 7th of this month. They also said responses to the forms will be disbursed before the 13th of this month. Some notable statistics from data the ministry publicised:

So far, 790 applications have been submitted for transfer from schools in the atolls to schools in Male

2290 applications for admission to grade 1 in schools in the capital city area

1450 applications for other grades

660 applications for transfer from one school to another in the Male area
