President Dr. Mohammed Muizzu has met the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres for the first time.
The President, who is currently in Antigua and Barbuda on the sidelines of the Small Island Developing States (SIDS) summit, said Maldives will maintain close relations with the United Nations.

They also discussed the challenges of being a developing island country and how to overcome them.
The President arrived in Antigua and Barbuda on Friday to attend the SIDS meeting. The President presented a speech at the three-day meeting, which began on Monday.
SIDS summits are held every ten years.
