The President’s Office on Sunday denied allegations that every parliament member representing the ruling party People’s National Congress (PNC) is being paid MVR 50,000 from the president’s official residence Muliaage.

The first to make this accusation was MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail. Some reliable sources also told Atoll Times that, MVR 50,000 is given to MPs per month via Muliaage.

Presidential Spokesperson Heena Walid denied the allegation in a post in X on Sunday.

"MDP Chairman Fayyaz Ismail's claim that PNC MPs are paid MVR 50,000 per month from Muliaage is a blatant lie," Heena wrote in the post on the official account of the President's Office Spokesperson.
