Police have seized 29 mobile phones from eight units of Maafushi Prison in an operation to seize items that have been smuggled in.
Police have launched a prison search operation to seize contraband and prevent illegal activities in the prison.
A total of 304 officers from police, MNDF and the Maldives Correctional Service are participating in the operation, which is being initiated by Homeland and Security Minister Ali Ihsan.

The operation on Monday searched eight units of the prison, and the items seized included:

17 Chargers
-
12 headsets
-
3 Pen drives

3 Ear Pods

3 cables

2 SIM cards

4 bottles of grog
Police said the items were taken into custody and the case is being investigated.
