The Islamic Library at King Salman Mosque was officially opened on Saturday evening.
The inauguration ceremony was held at the mosque, with Minister of Language and Culture Adam Naseer Ibrahim presiding. Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed also attended the event.
The library, located on the third floor of the mosque, currently holds a collection of over 15,000 books. It has been developed as part of an initiative to expand access to Islamic literature and scholarly works.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Shaheem highlighted the government’s objective of establishing libraries in mosques as part of its broader plans for religious education. He encouraged the public and scholars to contribute by donating books to support the library’s growth.
The development of Islamic libraries in mosques and Islamic centres across the Maldives is one of the commitments outlined in the current administration’s agenda.
