Body of missing elderly man found in Gan

The body of a 75-year-old man who went missing while travelling alone in a small dinghy has been found in GDh. Gan.
Zakariyya Mohamed went missing last Thursday after departing from Gadhdhoo to the nearby island of Gan. He did not return as expected.
The dinghy he was travelling in was discovered submerged at a depth of 10 metres in the channel between Gadhdhoo and Gan on Saturday morning.
Gadhdhoo Council Member Ali Shareef confirmed the discovery of Zakariyya’s body at 11:43 a.m. on Sunday.
“He was found by two members of the public who had gone to search near Gan. The body was in a decomposed state due to the time passed,” Shareef said.
The body remains in Gan, and arrangements are pending.
Police also confirmed the discovery in an official statement, stating that Zakariyya’s body was found in the southern part of Gan at 11:43 a.m.
An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is ongoing.
