Five people have been arrested in connection with a group fight in the capital city Male.
They were produced before the Criminal Court on Friday for a decision on their remand, which ordered one of them to remain in custody pending the completion of the investigation and the others for five days.
Police said a 19-year-old and 24-year-old local men were arrested in connection with the incident.
According to the court order, they are charged with organised fighting using sharp and dangerous weapons.
At the remand hearing, police presented CCTV footage of the case, photos of the victim and other documents. The judge concluded that, in view of those factors, sufficient evidence had been presented to support an allegation.
