Maldives foreign minister visits Bahrain

The four-day visit follows an invitation from Bahrain's foreign minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

Maldives foreign minister Moosa Zameer on Sunday began an official visit to Bahrain.

The four-day visit follows an invitation from Bahrain's foreign minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.

The visit will involve high-level discussions between Zameer and his Bahraini counterpart. The discussions will focus on reviewing the longstanding bilateral relations between the Maldives and Bahrain, with a view to exploring opportunities for future cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

This year marks the 44th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

In addition to meetings with the foreign minister of Bahrain, Zameer is scheduled to hold discussions with other senior officials from Bahrain.

These include the Minister of Finance and National Economy, the Minister of Oil and Environment, and the Minister of Tourism. The meetings will centre on enhancing collaboration between the Maldives and Bahrain across various sectors.
