Maldives' Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer on Thursday concluded his official two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
During the visit, he held high-level meetings aimed at strengthening the long-standing bilateral relations between the Maldives and the UAE.
Zameer met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the UAE.
The two ministers engaged in discussions focused on exploring avenues to diversify and deepen the existing ties between the two nations.
The meeting also saw Zameer hand-deliver a letter from President Dr Mohamed Muizzu addressed to the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The discussions highlighted mutual interests, including economic cooperation, trade, and tourism, with both parties expressing a commitment to enhancing collaboration in these key areas.
In addition to his meeting with Sheikh Abdullah, Zameer held discussions with Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD). The meeting underscored the importance of continued partnership in development initiatives and cooperation on projects of national importance for the Maldives.
Zameer also visited the Maldives embassy in the UAE, where he engaged in an interactive session with the Ambassador of the Maldives to the UAE, Mohamed Hussain Shareef, and the embassy staff. Discussions centred on the embassy’s role in further advancing diplomatic and economic relations between the Maldives and the UAE.
