Adam Rameez sacked as president's office minister

Rameez has been sacked as a minister in the President's Office, two months after being suspended from the post.

Adam Rameez, a minister in the President’s Office and one of the closest associates of President Mohamed Muizzu, was sacked on Thursday,

Rameez confirmed to Atoll Times that he had received a letter of dismissal.

He said the letter did not state the reason for the dismissal and that it was done under the powers vested in the president.

Rameez has been sacked as a minister in the President's Office, two months after being suspended from the post. His ex-wife, state environment minister Fatimath Shamnaz Ali Salim, was also suspended.

The President's Office did not disclose the reason for the suspension.

Shamnaz was arrested and later released in allegations that she had been involved in a witchcraft case against the president. The Prosecutor General's office has decided not to prosecute the accused due to lack of evidence.
