Govt gives MVR 3m to 16 associations
Youth Ministry has identified 16 organisations to receive grants and a total of MVR 3 million has already been allocated to them.
The government has disbursed MVR 3 million in grant aid to 16 organisations.
The Youth Ministry announced the grant at a press conference at the President's Office on Monday.
Presidential spokesperson Heena Waleed said the Youth Ministry has identified 16 organisations to receive grants and a total of MVR 3 million has already been allocated to them.
However, the ministry did not elaborate on the criteria it considered in determining which organisations and which organisations were awarded grants.
“There are a lot of technical issues involved. It would be best if the ministry clarified the matter. The ministry will give the details to the media,” Heena said when asked about the details.
In his first press conference after taking over as Youth Minister, Ibrahim Waheed said that associations are asking for government assistance. The minister said the ministry would arrange rules for that.
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs held a seminar with religious service organisations on Sunday. Minister Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed also said that he would arrange a mechanism to provide financial assistance and resources to the associations.
