Ensuring road safety top priority for president, govt says
Heena stressed the importance of adhering to existing laws and regulations regarding road safety.
Government said on Wednesday that maintaining the safety and security of the streets of the Maldives, including Male, is a top priority for President Mohamed Muizzu.
Chief spokesperson at the President's Office, Heena Waleed, made these remarks during a press conference held at the President's Office. The Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed also joined the press conference.
Heena Waleed emphasised the president's strong commitment to road safety, referencing a recent post on the social media platform 'X' that clearly articulated the significance of ensuring safe and secure roadways.
She expressed confidence in finding solutions, as the president has directed relevant authorities to implement eight specific measures in response to recent incidents. These measures include increasing police personnel on the streets, enhancing monitoring activities, and extending these initiatives to islands.
