Shiyam Ibrahim has been removed from the board of directors of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), according to an announcement by the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB) on X on Monday.
No further details were provided regarding the decision.
The removal comes after the dismissal of MPL’s Managing Director, Mohamed Wajeeh Ibrahim, in February. Wajeeh, a relative of Speaker of Parliament and People's National Congress (PNC) Chairman Abdul Raheem Abulla, was dismissed following changes in political alignments.
Wajeeh's removal occurred shortly after Abdul Raheem's son, Ibrahim Faisal, was dismissed as Minister of Tourism amid reports of a strained relationship between President Mohamed Muizzu and Abdul Raheem.
