Maldivian to launch flights to South Africa this year

Maldivian, the national airline, will commence flights to South Africa as part of its international expansion strategy.
Managing Director of Island Aviation, Ibrahim Ilyas, told Atoll Times that the airline will soon begin operations to Johannesburg. The flights are expected to start in the middle of the year, with an initial schedule of one flight per week.
In January, Maldivian introduced an A330 aircraft into its fleet and began operations to China. The airline currently operates direct flights to Beijing, Chengdu, and Shanghai.
Ilyas stated that the airline aims to increase the number of tourists from the region to the Maldives. The airline has also announced plans to launch flights to Germany this year.
Maldivian is planning to add another A330 aircraft to its fleet to expand its services to European destinations.
