MACL pays annual MVR 25,000 bonus to employees
This marks the fourth consecutive year since 2022 that MACL has paid MVR 25,000 as a bonus.
Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), the operator of Velana International Airport, has paid MVR 25,000 as an annual bonus to its employees this year.
Several employees confirmed on Wednesday that the bonus had been deposited into their accounts.
This marks the fourth consecutive year since 2022 that MACL has paid MVR 25,000 as a bonus. Last year, the payout was made in September.
MACL employs more than 4,200 staff, bringing the total cost of this year’s bonus payments to over MVR 105 million.
According to a previous report by the Auditor General’s Office, MACL recorded a net profit of MVR 1 billion last year. The report also noted that the company borrowed USD 80 million (MVR 1.2 billion) to support government financing.
