MPL chief Rishwan resigns as third SOE leadership change on Monday

Mohamed Rishwan has resigned from his position as Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited, becoming the third head of a state-owned enterprise to leave office on Monday.

The Privatisation and Corporatisation Board confirmed that Rishwan submitted his resignation on Monday, which has been accepted.

“Mohamed Rishwan (Deputy Commissioner of Police, Retired), of H. Habaruge, has formally tendered his resignation from the position of Managing Director and as a member of the Board of Directors of Maldives Ports Limited. Following his submission on 6 April 2026, the resignation has been accepted, and he has been officially relieved of his duties,” the board said.

Earlier on Monday, Hussain Didi was dismissed from his role as Managing Director of Agro National Corporation Limited.

The board stated that Hussain Didi was removed from his position as Managing Director and board member with immediate effect.

Prior to that, Mohamed Najah was dismissed from his position as Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation.

The changes follow the outcome of the Local Council Elections held on Saturday.

AgroNet is a state-owned company which the government had decided to dissolve in September 2024.

No further details were provided regarding the leadership changes.
