The Cabinet has decided to establish a dedicated project coordination unit in every government ministry to monitor the implementation of state development projects and help ensure they are completed within scheduled timelines.
According to the President's Office, the decision was made during the Cabinet meeting held on Sunday as part of a series of measures aimed at improving public service delivery and project implementation.
Under the decisions approved by the Cabinet, ministries and relevant agencies have been instructed to strengthen the monitoring and coordination of development projects.
The measures include:

Completing updates to the Duveli project monitoring portal and the Ministry of Finance's Public Investment Management System (PIMS) portal by the end of this week, followed by continuous real-time updates.

Establishing a team within the Ministry of Finance to identify and resolve operational issues faced by ministries and state-owned enterprises (SOEs) in implementing projects.

Creating a project coordination unit in every ministry to oversee the day-to-day management of ongoing projects.

Instructing the Ministry of Housing to work with contractors and the Ministry of Finance to ensure housing projects are completed on schedule.

Completing the remaining work required to establish the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry network across the Maldives before the end of January 2027.

Introducing measures to reduce risks associated with chemical storage by limiting permits for chemical warehouses in the atolls to designated areas away from residential communities.
The President's Office said the measures are intended to improve coordination among government institutions and support the timely completion of development projects.
