Pres says more resort developments in Makunudhoo lagoon
The president said that with the airport, the development that the islanders want will come to the area.

More resorts will be developed in the H.Dh. Makunudhoo lagoon in the near future, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said on Sunday.
The president was in Makunudhoo on Sunday evening to campaign for the September 9 presidential election. Although a bit separated from other islands in the atoll, the president said that it is a beautiful area and is suitable for tourism development.
Soneva is developing a resort in the westernmost part of Maldives, in a lagoon adjacent to Makunudhoo, Dhipparufushi. It is about 20 minutes away from Makunudhoo.
Speaking in Makunudhoo on Sunday evening, the president said that with the completion of the Makunudhoo airport, where dredging began on Sunday, tourism in the area will further expand.
"Makunudhoo is in an area of Maldives with unique characteristics. Although it is separated from the rest of Maldives, it has a beautiful lagoon and a beautiful lagoon and is one of the most attractive places for tourism," he said.
"Hopefully, we will open up more resorts in the Makunudhoo lagoon in the future".
The president said that while the land is being dredged for the airport, two or three more islands will be dredged which will also open more doors for tourism.
The president said that when he visited the island in 2018 for the presidential campaign, the people's most wanted proposal was to develop an airport. However, he did not promise to do so at the time, he said.

In addition, before the airport, the isolation of Makunudhoo has been resolved with the RTL ferry service, which he is very pleased about, he said.
