Housing Development Corporation (HDC) on Thursday signed agreements with four contractors for developmental projects which includes a daycare centre in Hulhumale.
Agreements for the projects were signed with four different companies at a special ceremony held at HDC on Thursday. The four agreements were signed on behalf of HDC by Managing Director Ahmed Athif.
Daycare centre
HDC informed that the daycare centre is a six-storey building to be constructed on 3,000 square feet land. The centre is to be completed within two years.

The project was awarded to Associated Business Agents (ABA) and was signed by Managing Director of the company Abdulla Qasim.
Expatriate workers' building
The first of its kind, HDC said that the building for expatriate workers is a project initiated to provide safe accommodation services to expatriate employees brought in by various companies across the country. Some expatriate workers live in abhorrent conditions.

Includes 18 blocks for 7,000 labourers and 2,000 hospitality industry employees

Each block consists of rooms with a capacity of six people, a garden, prayer room and shops

There will be offices on five floors

The project was awarded to Hong Kong's Rotime Engineering And Technology Co. Limited to be completed within 14 months. Country Manager Chin Shengwu signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Auto centre
HDC said that they had decided to develop an auto centre as it is not safe to do welding and tinkering in residential areas.

The auto centre is a five-storey 35,400-square-foot building including a basement

The project was awarded to China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd. to be completed within two years. General Manager of The Company Zhang Tao signed the agreement on behalf of the company.
Parking building
The parking building will be developed as an initiative of Damas to address the space constraints and congestion faced in vehicle parking in the capital city area.

The 24,700-square-foot parking building will have six floors

A food court will also be developed in the area

The project was awarded to Damas to be completed within two years and was signed by Deputy Managing Director Ahmed Salih.
