Haseeb nominated to replace Fuwad at Elections Commission
Fuwad's term expires on November 24.

Abdul Haseeb Ismail has been nominated to the Elections Commission (EC) to replace the commission's chair Fuwad Thaufeeq whose term is nearing completion.
President Mohamed Muizzu's nomination of Haseeb was announced in Monday's parliament sitting.

Fuwad's term expires on November 24.
Haseeb's name was sent to the committee for further consideration.
Haseeb was previously the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. He was appointed to the post in 2019 and was sacked in 2021 for violating code of conduct.
