Flat list publication delayed to November
Housing minister Dr. Ali Haider had earlier indicated that the list would be made public by the end of this month.
The release of the list of beneficiaries for 4,000 flats developed in the second phase of Hulhumale under the Gedhoruveriya scheme has been postponed to November, according to the housing ministry.
In a statement issued Monday, the ministry cited public complaints made to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding the list of flat recipients previously released by the last government.
As a result, the housing advisory committee and the Male City Council’s housing consultative committee have decided to re-evaluate all applications for the flats.
The ministry noted that the re-evaluation process is ongoing and requires additional time to complete.
“Given the need for more time to finish this work, the ministry will now release the provisional list by the second week of November,” the statement read.
Housing minister Dr. Ali Haider had earlier indicated that the list would be made public by the end of this month. However, delays have prompted protests from the public, who are also raising concerns about the non-distribution of land to those allocated plots under the previous government's landlord scheme.
