Ministry assures safety of flat recipients list amid fire

Housing Ministry on Thursday confirmed that the list of flat recipients under the Gedhoruveriya scheme issued by the previous administration remains secure, as the data is stored in cloud hosting systems.

In a statement, the Housing Ministry emphasised that critical information, including the flat recipient list, has been safeguarded due to its storage in cloud-based systems.
Speaking to Atoll Times prior to the official statement, the ministry’s media officer Ahmed Izmeem said efforts are underway to recover affected systems.
“The systems are being moved to Dharubaaruge for recovery. We will know more about the situation after the recovery process is completed,” he said.
Izmeem also mentioned that the ministry is considering making files related to the Gdhoruveriya scheme accessible through its online portal once the systems are restored.
