19 companies fined for violating Umrah rules
As per existing rules, companies found in violation can face fines ranging from MVR 1,000 to MVR 1 million.

Ministry of Islamic Affairs on Tuesday announced that 19 companies have violated the regulations for facilitating Umrah pilgrimages this year and each company will be fined MVR 5,000 for the infractions.
The government has assisted 23 individuals left stranded during their Umrah pilgrimage by a group identified as Al-Hijra. Following the incident, the ministry stated that it would enforce strict measures against companies that fail to meet their responsibilities toward pilgrims.
In a message, the ministry confirmed:

19 companies were found in violation of Umrah regulations.

Each company will face a penalty of MVR 5,000.
The ministry also disclosed that an additional case of fraud related to Umrah pilgrimages is currently under investigation.
As per existing rules, companies found in violation can face fines ranging from MVR 1,000 to MVR 1 million. The Ministry also has the authority to temporarily suspend or revoke the permits of such organisations.
