This newly formed group serves as a platform to discuss the implementation of the vision outlined by the leaders of both nations during President Mohamed Muizzu's recent visit to India at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During the meeting, representatives from both sides engaged in discussions on further strengthening bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation across multiple sectors. The key focus areas included:

  • Economic collaboration – Exploring opportunities for trade, investment, and economic partnerships.

  • Healthcare cooperation – Strengthening joint efforts in medical services, pharmaceutical trade, and public health initiatives.

  • Digital finance – Enhancing financial connectivity through digital payment systems and fintech solutions.

  • Maritime security – Addressing challenges in the Indian Ocean region and ensuring safe and secure maritime operations.

As part of the ongoing commitment to deepening Maldives-India relations, the second meeting of the High-Level Core Group has been scheduled to take place in India in April 2025.
