Fenaka Corporation has put a new 1.8 MW generator into operation at the Central Power Station (CPS) in Addu to address ongoing power outages affecting the connected islands.

Power disruptions had been occurring intermittently due to delays in receiving spare parts for repairs. To address the issue, a new generator set was brought to Addu last Monday.

The newly procured genset has now been installed and is operational. As part of the installation process, a substation will be temporarily disconnected for one hour tomorrow, according to a message sent to the Viber group of the Maradhoo-Feydhoo branch.

The replacement was necessary as one generator was damaged beyond repair. Three additional gensets had been affected, of which only one has been repaired so far. Two pre-owned generators remain out of service.

Fenaka stated that:

  • The second generator is expected to be repaired and operational within this week.

  • The third generator will be repaired using spare parts from abroad and is expected to be operational by next week.
