The 'Maumoon Font', created based on the handwriting of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, has been launched.
The font is now available for download on the Akuru Type website.
A ceremony was held at the Art Gallery on Friday to unveil the font.
Speaking at the event, Maumoon stated that he had never considered his handwriting to be notable and expressed surprise at the initiative.
During his remarks, Maumoon highlighted the significance of launching the font on International Mother Language Day. He emphasised the importance of promoting and developing the Dhivehi language, stating that language is a key element in national identity and progress.
"This font was not initiated by me, but I would like to thank those who took the initiative," Maumoon said.
