Health authorities in Maldives on Wednesday expanded the COVID-19 vaccine booster campaign to include everyone above the age of 18.

Since late June, Health Protection Agency (HPA) had been administering the fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccine to elderly people and high-risk individuals only.

HPA said on Wednesday that the second booster shot will be administered to those who have had received the first booster dose at least four months back.

  • In Male, the fourth dose will be administered by appointment only; appointments can be requested via this link

  • Vaccination arrangements in the atolls to be announced by the respective island's hospital or health centre

Vaccination facilities and hours in the Male region:

  • Dharumavantha Hospital - 12-2pm (Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday)

  • Hulhumale Hospital - 1-3pm (Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday)

  • Damanaveshi - 1-3pm (every day except public holidays)

Covid-19 vaccination was introduced in the Maldives in February last year. The government's vaccination drive was well-received by the public.

However, the number of people getting vaccinated and boosted has decreased significantly over the past few months.
