Heavy rainfall over the past few days has affected various parts of the country, causing flooding in some areas and damage to houses, but the weather is now expected to improve, according to the Maldives Meteorological Service.

The rainfall recorded over the past two days was significant, with ADh. Dhigura experiencing a storm described as the most severe in the past 30 years.

Rough sea conditions resulted in two speedboats sinking.

A MET office official stated that the intensity of the rainfall has now reduced. However, some areas in the central and southern regions may still experience some effects.

"The seas will not be as rough," the official said. "It is now safe for travel, and the weather is expected to remain stable for the next five days."

According to the MET office, the rainfall was caused by a circulation in the region. Meteorologists attribute such weather patterns to climate change.
