The Local Government Ministry has announced that MVR 28 million will be allocated for lighting up islands, including Hulhumalé, for this year’s Eid celebrations. A total of 36 islands will be illuminated as part of the initiative.
Last year, Eid lights were installed in the capitals of each atoll for both Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Alha. In addition to the lights, speakers were set up to broadcast the takbeer. The lights are being installed in partnership with the councils and rural institutions.
