
Man arrested for oil attack on MDP activist
Mariyam Zubair was attacked on the night of 16 March.
A 20-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an incident involving the throwing of tarred oil at Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) activist Mariyam Zubair.
According to police, the suspect was taken into custody on Thursday for allegedly throwing tarred oil. Mariyam Zubair was attacked on the night of 16 March.
The suspect has been identified as:

Ahmed Rishmah, 20, Sultan Villa/G. Dhaandhoo
He was presented before the Criminal Court, which ordered his remand in custody for 15 days. The case remains under investigation.
Mariyam Zubair was targeted with tarred oil following her remarks about the ban on vape products in the Maldives, referencing the use of vape by the president’s son.
