A man was arrested following a fight with his brother on R. Maduvvari island on Monday night.
According to a resident of the island, the fight occurred between two brothers living in the same house. The arrested man had previously been convicted of violence and jailed but was later released.
The victim is in stable condition, according to a spokesperson from the island.
The arrested individual has been identified as Ismail Asif, who was jailed in 2019 for stabbing a man on a boat. Asif was serving a 10-year sentence before being released.
Police received the report of the incident at 11:28 pm and confirmed that a 35-year-old man has been taken into custody. An investigation is ongoing.
