
Charges sought against 2 men over Hulhumalé axe attack
Both individuals have been remanded in custody pending trial.
The Maldives Police Service has requested the Prosecutor General’s Office to file charges against two individuals arrested in connection with an axe attack that occurred near the Rehendhi Turf Stadium in Hulhumalé last February.
According to police, the Prosecutor General’s Office accepted the case on Thursday.
The suspects were identified as:

Rusthum Ibrahim, 25, of Heenaamage, Gdh. Fiori

Saifullah Faisal, 19, of Finifenmaage, B. Goidhoo
Both individuals have been remanded in custody pending trial.
The incident took place at approximately 11:35 p.m. on 8 February. According to police, two masked individuals riding a motorcycle attacked a man on the west side of the stadium, located on Boaganvila Magu in Hulhumalé.
Rusthum and Saifullah were apprehended later that night while attempting to flee toward Malé via the highway.
