Body of Maavah stabbing victim sent to India for autopsy

After remaining in the morgue for approximately 10 days, police confirmed on Thursday that the body had been sent abroad for autopsy.

The body of Moosa Ibrahim, who was fatally stabbed in L. Maavah on 28 July, has been sent to India for an autopsy.

Moosa, 29, sustained fatal injuries during an altercation in Maavah and was pronounced dead upon arrival at Maavah Hospital.

Mohamed Ibrahim, 29, from Asri Manzil in HDh. Nolhivaranfaru, surrendered to the police on the same day. Authorities recovered the knife believed to have been used in the incident from the sea.

After remaining in the morgue for approximately 10 days, police confirmed on Thursday that the body had been sent abroad for autopsy. No further information was provided.

While police stated that an autopsy is required for further analysis, Moosa’s family has opposed the procedure, citing that the suspect has already surrendered to law enforcement.
