Police to conduct post-mortem on victim of Maavah fatal stabbing

Police stated that the body will be sent abroad for the post-mortem examination. Such examinations are typically conducted in India.

The Maldives Police Service has announced plans to conduct a post-mortem examination on the body of Moosa Ibrahim, who was fatally stabbed during an incident in L. Maavah on Monday.

Moosa Ibrahim, 29, from Nalahiya, Maavah, died following an altercation that took place on the island on Monday morning. His body was transported to Malé later that evening for further procedures.

Police stated that the body will be sent abroad for the post-mortem examination. Such examinations are typically conducted in India.

Mohamed Ibrahim, 29, of Asri Manzil, HDh. Nolhivaranfaru, has been arrested in connection with the incident. The knife used in the stabbing was recovered from the sea, according to police. Mohamed Ibrahim has a known record of drug-related offences and has been remanded in custody pending the outcome of the trial.

A resident of Maavah told Atoll Times that the altercation between the two individuals occurred on Monday morning. Police have confirmed the occurrence of the incident.

According to another local resident, both individuals had prior involvement in criminal activity. Mohamed Ibrahim had previously relocated to Maavah after marrying a local woman. Although the couple is now divorced, he continues to visit the island periodically.

There are reports circulating in the island community suggesting that the dispute between Moosa Ibrahim and Mohamed Ibrahim may have been linked to a drug-related matter.
