A woman has died after sustaining severe burns in a fire that occurred last week on AA. Rasdhoo island.

Two individuals, both 31 years old, suffered burns in the incident.

Aishath Rifqa, an employee at the Alif Alif Atoll Office, sustained burns on 83% of her body. She passed away Monday evening. No improvement in her condition had been reported prior to her death.

The other victim, Ali Samin, suffered burns covering 78% of his body. He remains in the intensive care unit on a ventilator in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male.

A specialist in burn treatment was brought in from abroad last Friday to provide medical care for the two patients.

The fire did not cause damage to the room. Other individuals were present in the house at the time of the incident, including the couple’s five-year-old child, who was not injured.
