Rasdhoo burn victim transferred to India for further treatment
Samin’s former wife, Aishath Rifqa, also aged 31, passed away on 31 March while receiving treatment.
A 31-year-old man who sustained burn injuries in a recent fire in AA. Rasdhoo has been transferred to India for continued medical care.
Ali Samin suffered burns on 78 percent of his body and was initially treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), where he remained on a ventilator for several days.
Samin was discharged from the ICU on 4 April and transferred abroad for further treatment on Monday.
According to his family, although he is no longer on a ventilator, his condition remains critical.
“All we can do at this time is pray,” a family representative stated.
Doctors had earlier assessed Samin's chances of survival as low due to the extent of the burns. However, following some signs of improvement, his family arranged for further treatment overseas.
Samin’s former wife, Aishath Rifqa, also aged 31, passed away on 31 March while receiving treatment. She had sustained burns on 83 percent of her body.
The fire did not damage the room in which it occurred. Other occupants of the house at the time, including the couple’s five-year-old son, were unharmed.
