The Maldives has been elected to serve as a member of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) for the 2026–2030 term.
President Mohamed Muizzu acknowledged the development in a statement on 'X' on Friday. He noted the Maldives’ election to the commission and welcomed all other countries elected for the same term.
President Muizzu stated that the Maldives remains prepared to support the commission’s work on matters related to women’s rights and empowerment.
He also highlighted progress made by the Maldives in advancing women's rights at both national and international levels, adding that the country looks forward to working with relevant stakeholders to further contribute to the commission's efforts.
