Parliament on Tuesday approved the appointment of Mohamed Anas as the President of the Privatisation and Corporatisation Board (PCB).
Anas was appointed to the post on 13 March following the dismissal of former PCB President Hamdy Agil. His nomination was subsequently forwarded to Parliament for confirmation.
The State-Owned Enterprises (SOE) Committee of Parliament reviewed and approved Anas’s nomination on Monday. During Tuesday's sitting, members voted on whether to confirm the appointment.
Anas received 82 votes in favour, with no members voting against.
Anas holds a Master of Business Administration from the Maldives National University. He most recently served as Deputy Minister of Finance. His previous roles include Audit Manager at the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Associate Professor at the Maldives Business School.
