The government will provide scholarships to 45 students to pursue studies in fisheries management, President Mohamed Muizzu announced Thursday.
Speaking on the Rayyithunna Eku podcast, President Muizzu said the scholarships will be offered through the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences at the Maldives National University.
The scholarships will cover full tuition for a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries Management. The President said the opportunity is expected to be made available in the coming days.
“We are estimating that 45 students will be able to get scholarships under our current budget,” President Muizzu said.
In addition to the degree programme, the President noted that the College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences will also conduct short-term training courses to build capacity in the fisheries sector. He added that efforts are ongoing to expand the availability of scholarships in the field.
